Kwara Will Be Safe Again, IGP Disu Assures Residents
The Nigeria Police Force has vowed to reclaim communities in Kwara State from criminal elements, assuring residents that intensified operations are underway to restore peace and protect lives and property.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, gave the assurance on Monday in Ilorin while addressing security stakeholders and police personnel during his first official visit to the state since his appointment.
Disu said communities affected by banditry and violent crimes would be reclaimed through sustained security operations, stressing that criminals would not be allowed to drive residents from their homes. He also urged officers to intensify their efforts to rid the state of criminal groups.
The police chief called on residents to support security agencies with credible and timely intelligence, noting that community cooperation remains crucial in tackling insecurity. He also cautioned against ethnic profiling, stressing that criminal activities should not be attributed to any ethnic group.
Meanwhile, a businessman and Chairman of the Stafolga Group, Araba Sanni, called for the development of Nigeria’s subnational economies and the establishment of state police, saying stronger security institutions at the state level would enhance safety and attract investment across the country.
