Portable didn’t beat me; it was paid advert - Kelvin Power
Kelvin Atobiloye, popularly known as Kelvin Power, has shared how his passion for lifting heavy objects from childhood shaped his journey into becoming a professional bodyguard, bodybuilder, and actor. In an interview with a popular newspaper Atobiloye said the nickname “Kelvin Power” was suggested by a friend who created an Instagram page for him, reflecting his love for weightlifting.
The Ondo and Ekiti State indigene recalled that his interest in lifting began during his childhood in Ondo State, where he and his friends competed to see who could lift the heaviest objects. However, a turning point came after he moved to Lagos and failed to lift weights he thought he could easily handle while visiting a friend. The embarrassment motivated him to begin intense gym training, sometimes exercising several times a day.
Despite his success in fitness and security work, Atobiloye revealed that he studied law at Ekiti State University and hopes to complete law school abroad. He noted that he believes it is possible to combine multiple career paths, including law, acting, and security.
Atobiloye said his entry into professional security work was largely influenced by his physique and connections in the entertainment industry. Over the years, he has worked with high-profile figures, including billionaire businessman Mike Adenuga and singer Kizz Daniel. He also dismissed rumours that he had been relieved of his duties by the singer, insisting that he still works with him.
Beyond security work, the bodyguard has ventured into acting and featured in the film House of Gaa, where he worked alongside actors such as Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo and Funke Akindele. He added that his experience as a bodyguard helps him perform action scenes convincingly, noting that discipline, humility and faith have been key to navigating the risks and challenges of his career.
