IRAN DECLARES SUPPORT TO FIGHT TERRORISM IN NIGERIA
Iran has expressed readiness to support Nigeria in its ongoing fight against terrorism, describing the country as a partner facing similar security challenges.
The Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja, made this known during an interview on Arise Television while commenting on Nigeria’s security situation and the activities of insurgent groups operating in parts of the country.
According to the ambassador, Iran strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms and is open to cooperating with governments battling insurgency and violent extremism.
He noted that Nigeria continues to face serious threats from groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), stressing that Iran is willing to support efforts aimed at combating terrorism.
Raja added that Iran’s position is influenced by its own experience with terrorist attacks, describing the country as a victim of terrorism and emphasizing the importance of cooperation among nations to address global security threats and strengthen peace.
