POEM: The Price of Sweetness (A POEM)

-Advocacyadmin

Two lollipops sat where the floorboards creaked,
One loud in color, the other sleek.
One wore a wrapper like armor and pride,
The other stood naked with nothing to hide.

But sweetness is never a secret for long,
The air itself carries its sugary song.
And soon from the cracks, in disciplined streams,
Came a thousand small mouths with identical dreams.

They crowned the wrapped one in a living disguise,
A writhing black halo before your own eyes.
Not out of malice, not driven by hate—
Just hunger that recognized fortune too late.

The other stood quiet, untouched, alone,
A silent survivor on a wooden throne.
No glory in safety, no story to tell,
Just distance from chaos… and distance from hell.

Because sometimes exposure will cost you it all,
And sometimes protection just delays the fall.
But one truth remains in both calm and distress:
The world always gathers where there is excess.
