NANS Southwest Calls for Immediate Release of Abducted Cadre, Alade Felix
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest Zone D has called for the immediate and safe release of Comrade Alade Felix, popularly known as “Machiavelli,” following reports that he was allegedly abducted by unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident, reportedly occurring at about 1:00 a.m., has sparked concern among members of the student community and stakeholders within the student movement.
In a statement signed by Comrade Abubakar Musefiu. D, popularly known as “Goldenson of Nig,” Assistant Secretary General, NANS Southwest Zone D, the association described the reported abduction as deeply disturbing, stressing that Alade Felix is a committed and senior cadre within NANS and a brother to many members of the student movement.
The NANS official condemned the incident and called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant security agencies to urgently deploy all lawful means necessary to locate Felix, secure his safe release, apprehend those responsible and ensure that they face justice. He also appealed to members of the public with credible information about the incident or the whereabouts of the abducted student leader to immediately contact the appropriate security authorities.
Musefiu warned that the student community would not remain silent if meaningful action was not taken to secure Felix’s freedom, noting that students and concerned stakeholders could be mobilised for lawful, peaceful and organised demonstrations to demand accountability and protection of citizens’ fundamental rights. He, however, urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid the circulation of unverified information while security agencies conduct their investigations.
The statement ended with a strong appeal for the safe return of the NANS cadre, stressing that “Machiavelli” deserves to be safe and free as the student community awaits urgent intervention from the security authorities.
