Osun Governorship Election: Results Emerge From Polling Units

Voting has ended in the Osun State governorship election, with sorting and counting of ballots already completed at several polling units across the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the uploading of polling-unit results to its Result Viewing (IReV) portal, as officials continue the collation process. As of 4:52 p.m., 267 polling-unit results had been uploaded, representing 7.10 per cent of the 3,763 expected results.

Early results released from different polling units showed a competitive contest among the leading parties. At a polling unit in Olumodan, Iwo Local Government Area, the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded 139 votes, while the Accord Party polled 126 votes and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured seven votes.

At another polling unit in Ife-East, Accord secured 244 votes against 64 for the APC and 10 for the ADC. In Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area, Accord also led with 167 votes, followed by the APC with 86 and ADC with six votes.

Meanwhile, collation of results is expected to continue as more polling-unit figures are uploaded and formally collated by INEC. The commission has urged stakeholders and the public to rely on officially verified results as the process progresses.
